Slow Cooker Split Pea Soup



Ingredients for Slow Cooker Split Pea Soup:


1 bag split peas, rinsed

1 onion, chopped

1 cup sliced carrots, about 2 carrots

1 1/2 cups celery, about 2 stalks of celery

1 pound of ham steak or 2-3 cups diced ham

4 cups chicken stock

2 cups water

3-4 sprigs thyme

1 clove garlic, minced

Kosher salt

pepper


You will also need a slow cooker.


Time-Saving Tip: You can chop the vegetables the day before and keep them in the refrigerator until you're ready to cook.


Let's see what we need.

Time to cook.


Add all of the ingredients except for the broth, water, and peas to the slow cooker. Give it a stir and then pour the peas on top and then add the broth and water. Set the slow cooker to 4 1/2 hours on high.


Once cooked give the soup a good stir. Season with salt and pepper if needed.


It's ready! This soup is so easy to prepare and so delicious. It is perfect for a chilly or rainy day.
