Bratwurst with Beer-Braised Sauerkraut

Updated: Jul 2

With summer fun in full swing, I have grilling on my mind. Especially when I can give a twist to an old favorite. Bratwurst with Beer-Braised Sauerkraut fit the bill. I grill bratwurst and buns until golden and then top them with a sweep of grainy mustard and sauerkraut, braised with beer and fennel seeds. The first bite pops, and the delicious flavors come together. And this entire meal takes about 20 minutes to prepare, including heating the grill, which means I have more time to play.

Ingredients for Bratwurst with Beer-Braised Sauerkraut:

8-10 bratwurst

1 pound sauerkraut, drained

1/2 cup beer

3/4 teaspoon fennel seeds

1 tablespoon olive oil

whole grain mustard

8-10 buns, toasted

garnish with microgreens or parsley, optional

Time-Saving Tip: The sauerkraut takes minutes to prepare but feel free to make it in advance.
